This prediction is a day later than initially anticipated due to challenges in sighting the Shawwal crescent moon.
The Shawwal crescent’s birth marks the conclusion of Ramadan, set to commence on Monday, 11 March.

Al Jarwan explained, “On April 8, Shawwal crescent will be born in concurrence with a total solar eclipse, which means that the moon will not be visible at the western horizon after sunset.
“The crescent birth before dawn means that it will be visible after sunset on Tuesday, 9 April in most Islamic countries, therefore, Wednesday, 10 April shall mark the first day of Shawwal and Eid Al Fitr 2024.”
Otherwise known as the ‘Holiday of Breaking the Fast,‘ Eid Al Fitr immediately follows Ramadan and is the first major public holiday of 2024.
