UAE confirms New Year’s Day holiday for private sector workers

UAE private sector employees get a day off on 1 January 2025, with a paid holiday!

 

Great news for UAE private sector workers – the Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation has officially announced that Wednesday, 1 January 2025, will be a paid holiday for all private sector employees!

That means you can kick back and relax, enjoy the celebrations, and sleep in without the worry of work.

Work will resume on Thursday 2 January, following the New Year’s public holiday.

Whether you plan to spend the day with loved ones or enjoy some well-earned downtime, this holiday comes as a welcome relief.

The announcement comes after the UAE Cabinet confirmed the holidays for both public and private sector employees in 2025.

Here’s a look at the other key holidays you can look forward to in the coming year:

  • New Year’s Day: 1 January 2025
  • Eid Al Fitr: 31 March  – 2 April 2025
  • Arafat Day: 30 May 30 2025
  • Eid Al Adha: 31 May– 2 June 2025
  • Islamic New Year: 27 June 2025
  • The Prophet Mohammed’s birthday:  1September 2025
  • National Day: 2-3 December  2025

While some dates are confirmed, others will depend on moon sightings.
