The UAE officially launches the Blue Visa, a decade-long residency for sustainability leaders and innovators
The UAE has officially unveiled the Blue Visa, a 10-year residency permit designed to attract sustainability pioneers, environmental activists, and climate change innovators.
Announced at the World Governments Summit 2025, the visa solidifies the UAE’s position as a global leader in sustainability and environmental action.

The first phase of the initiative will grant 20 sustainability experts and innovators this prestigious visa, with applications now open through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).

Much like the Golden Visa and Green Residency Permit, the Blue Visa offers long-term residency to those who have demonstrated exceptional contributions to environmental protection both inside and outside the UAE.
Who can apply for the UAE Blue Visa?
The Blue Visa is designed for individuals who have significantly impacted sustainability, environmental conservation, and climate action. Eligible applicants include:
- Members of international organisations and sustainability-focused companies
- Global award-winning environmentalists
- Distinguished activists and researchers in climate change and conservation
- Innovators who have contributed to green technology and sustainable development
How to apply for the UAE Blue Visa
- Nomination Request:
- Applicants must submit a nomination request or be nominated by a competent authority in the UAE.
- The nomination fee is AED 350.
- Application Submission:
- Once nominated, applicants must provide supporting documents showcasing their contributions to sustainability.
- Required details include full name, contact information, nationality, occupation, passport details, faith, and address.
- Residency Update:
- If you’re already in the UAE, you must update your visa status upon approval.
- International applicants will need to apply for a six-month multiple-entry visa before securing their Blue Visa residency.
