Good news for those dealing with visa violator issues! The UAE has announced an extension on the visa amnesty programme, offering a fresh start for violators.

This initiative provides a crucial opportunity for expats living illegally to regularise their status, allowing them to reunite with family and friends without fear of deportation. As of now, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has announced a two-month extension valid until 31 December 2024.

The authority said that this decision aligns with the UAE’s 53rd Union Day celebrations and reflects the country’s humanitarian values. The amnesty scheme, which began on 1 September was initially scheduled to end on 31 October.

Reflecting on a similar programme from six years ago, the UAE’s third residency amnesty, initiated on 1 August, brought significant relief to thousands.

Originally planned for 90 days, the programme was extended until 31 December, enabling many to adjust their status or leave the country without penalties.

This upcoming amnesty is expected to have a similarly positive impact, helping expats resolve absconding cases, regularise their employment and residency status, and live without the constant fear of legal repercussions.

The UAE’s ongoing commitment to providing such opportunities underscores its dedication to humanitarian initiatives and community support.
