You will no longer receive a UAE residency visa in your passport it has been announced

The new measure will be implemented on 11 April.

The UAE residency visa for expatriates will no longer be stamped on their passports it has been announced.

The news revealed by Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security stated that from Monday 11 April, the Emirates ID will be used as proof of UAE residency instead.

The move means that expats will be able to renew their visa and Emirates ID in one application.

 

 

The authority stressed that the Emirates ID will contain all the residency information and will be linked to the passport.

The decision is a part of the authority’s efforts to reduce the step involved in issuing and renewing residency permits, making the process quicker and more efficient for foreigners who decide to move to the UAE.
