Faiek El Saadani pledges to cycle 42km a day as part of a campaign launched by Marriot International UAE
Pink October is here and all in the name of a great cause, businesses across Abu Dhabi are getting behind the cause through a number of events and initiatives. Not least is the W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island.
The hotel’s general manager, Faiek El Saadani, has promised to don lycra, hop on his road bike and cycle no less than 42 km a day, aiming to cross the border into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabic (KSA), to create awareness for breast cancer.
But aren’t the borders closed, we hear you say?
Yes, indeed. Faiek is within a safe zone that he is currently unable to leave. Instead, he has pledged to cycle (or run) 42kms every day which is a whopping 1,300 km or the distance from W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island to Saudi Arabia.
So, for the month of #PINKtober, and as part of the campaign launched by Marriott International UAE hotels, the GM will be cycling (or running) the equivalent of a Marathon a Day from the hotel itself, for the month of October, which is no easy feat!
Speaking about his mission, Faiek said: “Fuel is one of our Passion Points at W Hotels and one that I personally connect with as well. Being in a safe zone for over a month, I really wanted to use this time to give back and do something for the society and I couldn’t have asked for a better time than October which is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness.
“I stand for this cause and hope to be able to do my bit by committing to a virtual Marathon A Day and raising awareness and funds to support Brest Friends and Al Jalila Foundation on their efforts for the cause.”
