Dubai announces construction of the world’s largest airport terminal

Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai to commence construction of the world’s largest airport terminal

If the tallest building in the world wasn’t enough, Dubai is now all set to begin work on the world’s largest airport terminal as well!

Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum has officially approved a new passenger terminal to be constructed as part of the Al Maktoum International Airport worth a whopping AED 128 billion.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dubai’s Prime Minister and Vice President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum added that the newly constructed Al Maktoum International Airport would boast a capacity of up to 260 million passengers upon completion, that’s five times the current size of Dubai International Airport!

Furthermore, all operations at Dubai International Airport would then be transferred to Al Maktoum in approximately ten years.

With 400 terminal gates and five parallel runways, the airport will also be the new home of flagship carrier Emirates and its sister low-cost airline Flydubai along with all airline partners. The post also details that new aviation technologies will be employed for the first time in the aviation sector.

The new terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport will host 5 passenger terminal buildings and be able to bear 12 million tons of annual cargo capacity.

“We are building a new project for future generations, ensuring continuous and stable development for our children and their children in turn. Dubai will be the world’s airport, its port, its urban hub, and its new global center,” the post concluded.

We can’t wait!
