UAE authorities have officially confirmed reduced working hours for federal entities during Ramadan 2024.
As of today, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) circular confirmed working hours for federal government employees will be from 9am to 2.30pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 9am until midday on Fridays.
As per predictions, Ramadan is likely to begin on Monday 10 March and the Holy Month will last for either 29 or 30 days. Based on the new crescent of the lunar cycle, the new moon at the start of the ninth month of the Islamic calendar will signify the beginning of Ramadan.
The task of spotting the new crescent is placed upon the moon sighting committee who will convene after maghrib or sunset prayers on the 29th day of Sha’ban.
FAHR stressed that flexible working or remote work schedules can also be implemented as long as it’s in line with their specific requirements and within the limits of the working hours approved per day.
Federal departments can also approve work-from-home for a maximum of 70 per cent of their employees during Ramadan according to the approved regulations.
