Race fans: The Gulf 12 Hours is back in Abu Dhabi

The first race since 2019.

Listen up racing fans of Abu Dhabi because we have some news that will have your engines revving.

The Gulf 12 Hours endurance race is back this week at Yas Marina Circuit after a two-year hiatus.

Turning the ignition key from Thursday 6 January, race fans are promised three days of intense action on the track as 15 cars (12 GT3 cars and 3 GT4 machines) representing 10 teams including Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren, battle it out over 12 hours.

Now into its 10th season, the 2022 race looks to be the most exciting yet with three new track sections providing more opportunities for drivers to overtake.

Speaking on the announcement, CEO of Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management Saif Al Noaimi said the organisers were anticipating many exciting moments from an “incredible” grid line-up.

And when you are not engrossed in the action on the track, families can enjoy the entertainment off-track with plenty of food and beverage offerings, pit lane walks, hot laps and more.

The last Gulf 12 Hours event was held in 2019 and on that occasion, Audi scored its first win with the Attempto Racing car driven by Christopher Mies, Dries Vanthoor and Rinat Salikhov.
