UAE submits bid to host major FIFA international tournament

The country previously hosted the competition back in 2009.

Fresh from the successful hosting of the FIFA Club World Cup 2021, the UAE has now set its sights on another major FIFA football tournament.

The United Arab Emirates Football Association have confirmed their intention to host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2023.

The country will go up against the Bahrain Football Association and Seychelles Football Association for the rights to host the tournament played entirely on sand instead of grass.

The process will now move onto the review stage before FIFA makes a final decision later in the year.

Should the UAE be selected to host the 2023 edition, it will be the second time the country has done so after the 2009 tournament was played at Jumeirah Beach in Dubai.

Brazil lifted the silverware on that occasion defeating Switzerland 10-5 in the final.
