The World Triathlon Championship Finals 2022 are coming to Abu Dhabi and you can represent the UAE

The Abu Dhabi circuit has expanded to include Yas Bay Waterfront.

It’s time to start your fitness regimes as the World Triathlon Championship Finals 2022 are coming to Abu Dhabi it has been announced.

Taking place from 23 to 26 November on Yas Island, the event is expected to welcome more than 7,500 athletes and 25,000 spectators.

The first time the deciding leg of the World Triathlon Championship Series will be held in the MENA region, the event will see Abu Dhabi incorporate Yas Bay Waterfront into the circuit having only previously used Yas Marina Circuit for round robin triathlons of the series.

Along with the announcement of the event was the news that citizens and the residents will have the opportunity to pull on the red vest and represent the UAE at the championship.

Speaking on the announcement, President of the UAE Triathlon Federation, Mr Khaled Al Fahim said it was very exciting news Abu Dhabi.

He said; “We look forward to opening qualification for athletes wishing to represent Team UAE at triathlon races around the world, starting with the World Championships in November.”

“Watching Team UAE athletes lining up on the start line will be a proud moment – the culmination of many years of hard work building the triathlon community in the country. I encourage all those who would like to take part to check out the qualification criteria which will be announced soon.

“November’s World Triathlon Championship Finals is an incredible opportunity for Emirati and UAE-resident triathletes, and aspiring triathletes, to race at a World Championship event on home soil.”

The news that the World Triathlon Championship Finals 2022 is coming to Abu Dhabi is just the latest exciting sporting development for the city with Formula 1 Grand Prix to take place on Yas Island until at least 2030 and the 14th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship to take place in November.
