Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed on these two days

Dubai Roads

Motorists, take note!

Drive in Dubai often? Or planning a trip sometime soon? Either way, the biggest road in the emirate is about to be inaccessible!

That’s right, Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed on two different dates, both being sporting events.

The first date to mark is 12 November, as the Dubai Fitness Challenge hosts Dubai Ride, an event for cyclists of all abilities.

The second is on 26 November, owing to the Dubai Run. A community favourite, the event sees pro and amateur runners race along the Tarmac.

While timings are yet to be confirmed by Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA), there is some good news. The Dubai Metro will be operational, so you can still travel via public transport.

If last year is anything to go by, the road will be closed in both directions from the Trade Centre Roundabout to the 2nd Interchange, with Lower Financial Centre Street and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard Road shut as well.

In the interim, you can always register for both sports, which are free to enter. It’s a rare opportunity to traverse Sheikh Zayed Road on foot or on wheels.
