Heads up, motorists! Buckle in as two new toll gates are soon going to grace the roads of Dubai
Driving in Dubai? Before the year’s done, there will be two new toll gates!
Dubai’s toll gate operator Salik has announced plans to install two new toll gates – one at Business Bay Crossing on Al Khail Road, and the other at Al Safa South on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The locations have been chosen to optimise traffic flow and reduce congestion on key routes based on extensive traffic movement studies by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
There’s still some time though, with the gates expected to be operational only by November 2024. These will up the total number of Salik gates in Dubai to 10.

The Al Safa South Gate, located between Al Meydan Street and Umm Al Sheif Street, will be linked with the existing Al Safa gate (“Al Safa North”). However, the good news is that commuters will be charged only once if they pass through the two gates within one hour in the same direction.

The RTA expects the Business Bay Crossing gate to assist in improving traffic congestion by 12-15% on Al Khail Road, reducing traffic volume by 10-16% on Al Rabat Street, and redistributing traffic to Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud bridges and Ras Al Khor Street.
Similarly, Al Safa South is expected to reduce right-turn traffic volume from Sheikh Zayed Road to Meydan Street by 15% and optimise traffic flow on Financial Centre, First Al Khail, and Al Asayel streets.
So it might just be good news for motorists!
