Any fines received on Tuesday, 16 April will now be renounced by Dubai Police due to the heavy rainfall

Dubai Police, take a bow.

We are all still reeling from the volatile weather conditions that encapsulated the country last week, some of us more than others when it comes to Dubai and the fallout from the heavy rain that fell.

But authorities have moved quickly to try and make life a little easier for residents by offering some reprieve in relation to motorists who received fines on Tuesday, 16 April, when the storm was at its peak.

Social media coverage showed chastening footage of harrowing scenes throughout the city with roads collapsing, school closures and the general distress which it caused many people.

This generous measure is just one example of how the authorities have tried their best to keep spirits high for all residents in the city in an unprecedented situation.

Things are gradually beginning to go back to normal with the Abu Dhabi-Dubai bus route reinstated yesterday.

Roads in Sharjah, which was one of the worst areas affected by the rain, have also opened up to the public again.
