Sharjah announces eight new nurseries, expanded facilities, and central kitchens to enhance early childhood education
Sharjah’s nursery facilities are getting a significant upgrade, thanks to the latest initiative announced by HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
During a lively chat on the “Direct Line” programme with Mohammed Hassan Khalaf, Director General of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, His Highness shared the exciting news about the establishment of eight new nurseries.
Sharjah will see three of these new nurseries, while Kalba and Khorfakkan will each get two, and Dibba Al Hisn will welcome one.
Plus, existing nurseries in the Central Region are set for expansion, ensuring even more young children have access to top-notch early childhood education.
But that’s not all.
The plan also includes replacing the 11 current nurseries located inside schools and setting up central kitchens in each region.
These kitchens will whip up nutritious meals tailored to the needs of the little ones, ensuring they get the best start in life.

His Highness highlighted the recent graduation of 535 teachers from the Sharjah Education Academy, emphasising their role in elevating the teaching profession across the UAE.
“Our goal isn’t just to benefit Sharjah but the entire United Arab Emirates,” he said, pointing out that the government covers the educational expenses for these programmes.
“The teachers earned their degrees from the University of Helsinki in Finland, with some juggling their studies alongside roles at the Ministry of Education.
Addressing the affordability and quality of the nurseries, His Highness reassured parents, saying, “The nurseries’ fees are quite reasonable, at just AED 800 per month, for top-notch services.
“We’ve established over 33 nurseries in Sharjah, but the demand is growing.”
New central kitchen
He also spoke about the meticulous planning for new facilities, such as the upcoming nurseries in Kalba, which are expected to be ready within 10 months.
On the topic of children’s nutrition, His Highness shared some concerns. “We found some parents sending their kids off with unhealthy snacks, so we’re taking charge.
No outside food is allowed; instead, a central kitchen in Kalba will prepare nutritious meals suitable for each child’s age.”

The expansion plans don’t stop there.
In Khorfakkan, a new nursery is being built next to the existing ones, with more facilities planned for Al Harai and Al Bredi areas. Dibba Al Hisn will also see the construction of a new nursery soon.
In the Central Region, some smaller nurseries will be extended to accommodate more children, with a central kitchen in Mleiha set to supply food to nurseries in Al Dhaid and Al Madam. Al Hamriyah’s nursery, which still has 40 per cent of its capacity vacant, will also see enhancements to ensure every detail of early childhood care is addressed.
“This stage is crucial for laying a strong foundation before they progress to secondary school and university,” His Highness remarked, underlining the importance of quality early education in shaping future generations.
It’s clear that with these ambitious plans, Sharjah is set to lead the way in providing exceptional early childhood education and care, benefiting families across the emirate.
