The Yard set to bring dining, shopping, wellness and everyday essentials
Palm Jebel Ali is about to get the neighbourhood hangout it’s been missing.
Developed by Dubai Retail under Dubai Holding Asset Management, The Yard will bring a mix of shops, restaurants, wellness, healthcare and family-focused services to one of Dubai’s newest waterfront communities.
The destination will span around 70,000 square feet of gross leasable area, with 26 concepts planned across the development.
The new hub is expected to serve around 20,000 residents living in the surrounding communities, giving people in the area a convenient place to pick up everyday essentials, grab a coffee, book a wellness appointment or meet friends without having to travel further into Dubai.
Among the brands already confirmed for The Yard are Waitrose, American Hospital, Jumeirah International Nursery, Bateel Café, Piccoli and Friends Avenue, bringing a mixture of grocery shopping, healthcare, education, cafés and lifestyle services to the development.
And while The Yard will have plenty of practical offerings, it’s being designed as more than just a neighbourhood shopping centre.
Its waterfront location is a major part of the concept, with open terraces, communal spaces and direct connections to a waterfront promenade planned throughout the destination.
That should make it as much about hanging out as it is about getting things done, with residents able to grab a coffee, meet up with friends, take a stroll along the waterfront or make a quick shopping stop all in one place.
The Yard will add another piece to the growing Palm Jebel Ali community, which is being developed as a major new residential and lifestyle destination in Dubai.
As more homes and communities take shape across the area, destinations like this are expected to become increasingly important for everyday life.
For Dubai Retail, the project also adds to an already sizeable portfolio. The company currently operates 57 malls and lifestyle destinations across the emirate, with The Yard becoming its latest addition.
Construction is being carried out by McLaren Construction, which has been appointed as the main contractor for the development.
With its combination of retail, dining, healthcare, wellness and family services, The Yard is being positioned as a central meeting point for the neighbourhood rather than simply another place to shop.
The Yard is scheduled to open in Palm Jebel Ali in 2027, so residents will have to wait a little longer before this new waterfront spot starts welcoming visitors.
