Dancers, dragons, dining and drinks is just what the doctor ordered for a fabulous Saturday evening at this stunning venue
When the entire Miss Tess posse walks to five different tables with sparklers, sweets and signboards belting Happy Birthday – one can safely assume the restaurant’s reputation for celebrations.
And celebrate they do, as we learned in our firstever Secret Brunch: After Dark at Miss Tess!
The softly lit sleek interiors are all centred around a stage promising a night of revelry like no other in town.
We are barely two sips into our first drinks when two magnificent dragons get on the stage and kick off the entertainment.
Dancing around the restaurant to roaring tunes certainly makes for a memorable moment that the delighted guests are quick to capture.
Everything about Miss Tess is Instagrammable, from the meticulously crafted plates, whimsical garden and fairylights aesthetic on the terrace and of course, the stunning entertainment. It’s further underlined when the delightful sharing appetisers begin to arrive..
A bowl of salted Edamame is just the beginning of what was to be a quintessential Japanese feast, followed by Chicken Siu Mai, Chargrilled Chicken Yakitori and more.
An easy winner for me was the Vegetarian Pomelo Salad, refreshing and delightful in every bite while my partner favoured the Rock Shrimp Tempura with Spicy Mayo, every bit as crisp as you might expect it to be.
With our glasses almost magically (and consistently) refilled by our hosts, the brunch continued to unveil delightful acts in rapid succession.
The singer is a force to reckon with, swarmed by Geishas who quickly switched from graceful movements to breaking into all-out pop dancing.
Getting the diners on their feet soon enough, we almost forgot there was more food on the cards as everyone conga-lined around the restaurant.

The hearty plates of food did arrive though, promising-looking flavour bombs as they covered up the entire table.
From staples like Kung Pao Chicken and Thai Green Vegetable Curry to delicacies like the Chengdu Stir Fried Lamb with Celery, Red Chilli and Cumin – the menu has enough fuel to keep you going all night long.
And if the after-party is anything like the main event, you’re going to need that energy! What’s most delightful about brunching at Miss Tess is the organised chaos.
There’s sushi one moment and animated staff pouring shots down your throat in another.
A moment of savouring some of the finest Asian cuisine followed by shimmying alongside the gorgeous dancers.
That is to say, by the time the desserts come along, you might just be too spent to notice the fruity and luscious Yuzu Delight Tart or marvel over the decadent Warm Chocolate Fondant.
We, on the other hand, had no problem devouring the uniquely delicious Banana Caramel Gelato.
We were promised dishes that told a story and a night full of adventure, and that is exactly what the Secret Brunch: After Dark at Miss Tess delivered.
