The UAE’s young voices hit all the right notes at ChoirFestME 2025, where Hartland’s ‘Hartmonies’ claimed Choir of the Year in a spectacular talent showcase

The UAE’s choral scene was alive with energy as ChoirFest Middle East 2025 wrapped up its biggest-ever junior competition.

The competition brought together 40 school choirs from across the country, representing private and public schools in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Al Ain.

Over four days of music and camaraderie at GEMS Wellington Silicon Oasis, 600 young voices—aged 6 to 11—filled the venue with powerful voices.

Taking home the coveted Choir of the Year 2025 title was ‘Hartmonies’ from Hartland International School, marking their second consecutive victory in the competition.

“We are thrilled to have won for the second year. As a school, we are so proud of all the students in ‘Hartmonies’; their dedication to improving amazes us at every rehearsal. ChoirFestME is the embodiment of everything we enjoy about singing in choirs, and it has been incredible to see so many amazing school choirs perform,” said Choir Director Gareth Ansell, adding that the school is already making plans for a potential three-peat next year.

Jebel Ali School’s ‘JAS Melodix’ impressed the judges and secured the Runner-Up position, while several other choirs walked away with special accolades.

Swiss International Scientific School’s ‘Swiss Super Singers’ won Best Artistic Impression for their expressive performance, and Sharjah Primary Choir from Sharjah English School was recognised for Best Blend and Balance.

Safa Community Choir took home Best Solo Performance, while Repton Junior Choir from Repton Al Barsha wowed audiences with a Best Non-English Performance—singing in French.

Meanwhile, Jabel Hafeet Charter Schools’ Jabel Hafeet Choir received the Judges’ Pick award, celebrating their unique choral presence.

ChoirFestME was founded in 2013 and provides schools and community choirs a platform to showcase their abilities, learn from industry professionals, and connect with fellow performers.

“ChoirFestME is not just about competition; it’s about discovery, collaboration, and storytelling through song,” said Shelley Frost, founder of The Fridge and ChoirFestME. “This year’s Junior Schools festival was truly spectacular, with so many talented young singers giving it their all.”

Super singing everyone!
