The first-ever Euroleague Basketball SuperCup is officially coming to Abu Dhabi

The UAE capital is adding another major sporting event to its growing calendar as the inaugural Euroleague Basketball SuperCup comes to Yas Island this September.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Euroleague Basketball have announced the launch of the brand-new competition, which will officially tip off the European club basketball season. The first edition will take place at Etihad Arena on 18 and 19 September 2026.

The two-day tournament will feature three of Europe’s biggest basketball clubs alongside the UAE’s own Dubai Basketball, with the event adopting the popular Final Four format.

Four elite clubs, one trophy

Fans can expect two blockbuster semi-finals on Friday, 18 September. Defending EuroLeague champions Olympiacos Piraeus will face 2025 champions Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul at 6pm GST, before Dubai Basketball take on Real Madrid at 9pm GST.

The action continues on Saturday, 19 September, with the third-place play-off at 6pm, followed by the inaugural Euroleague Basketball SuperCup Final at 9pm.

The competition brings together some of Europe’s most successful clubs while giving UAE basketball fans the chance to watch elite European action on home soil.

When do tickets go on sale?

Two-day packages for the event are already on sale, while single-day tickets will be available from 31 August at the Etihad Arena webpage.

With four heavyweight clubs, a brand-new trophy and Etihad Arena providing the backdrop, the Euroleague Basketball SuperCup is set to become one of the standout sporting events in Abu Dhabi this autumn, so tickets are expected to sell out fast.

Another win for Abu Dhabi’s sporting calendar

The new SuperCup builds on the success of the EuroLeague Final Four, hosted in Abu Dhabi last May, and marks another milestone in the long-term partnership between DCT Abu Dhabi and Euroleague Basketball.

H.E. Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said the event reflects the emirate’s ambition to grow basketball while strengthening its reputation as a destination for world-class sporting events.

“The first edition of the Euroleague Basketball SuperCup is another milestone in Abu Dhabi’s long-term partnership with Euroleague Basketball and reflects our shared ambition to grow the game while creating world-class experiences for fans. Bringing four elite clubs to Abu Dhabi to open the new season further strengthens the emirate’s position as a global destination for elite sporting events, while generating lasting value for our visitor economy, local businesses and communities.”, H.E. Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry said.

Euroleague Basketball President Dejan Bodiroga described the SuperCup as “an exciting new chapter” for European club basketball, adding that Abu Dhabi’s commitment to the sport made it the ideal host for the inaugural tournament.

Meanwhile, Euroleague Basketball CEO Chus Bueno said the competition is designed to expand the global reach of European basketball while establishing a new flagship event on the international sporting calendar.

He stated: “The Euroleague Basketball SuperCup reflects our ambition to continue innovating and expanding the reach of European club basketball. Launching this new competition in Abu Dhabi enables us to engage new audiences while providing fans, clubs and partners with a premium event that showcases the very best of our sport. We look forward to establishing the SuperCup as a flagship fixture on the international basketball calendar.”

Ticket information: Two-day event packages are priced between AED 572 to AED 1,434, providing access to all four SuperCup games across 18 and 19 September. Single-day tickets range from AED 220 to AED 552 for Friday’s games, and AED 409 to AED 1,025 for Saturday’s games, depending on the seating category.

Tickets will go live on 24 August, 12nn GST, with full event package tickets for Friday and Saturday, providing access to all four SuperCup games on 18-19 September, alongside VIP hospitality packages offering fans and businesses exclusive benefits to enhance their experience. And on 31 August, 12nn GST, single day tickets will go on sale, allowing fans to attend either the Friday or Saturday games, with additional VIP hospitality packages availability also offered.

Consider yourselves warned, basketball fans – the crème de la crème is heading to Abu Dhabi, and you can be there to witness it.
