Inked in heritage: ME Dubai unveils Medad exhibition

ME by Meliá Dubai launches a luxe new art series that invites guests to experience Emirati culture

Culture, but make it luxury.

This August, ME by Meliá Dubai, one of the city’s most design-forward hotels, becomes the canvas for EMIRATI ART AT ME, a fresh exhibition concept that celebrates local talent through immersive, heritage-infused storytelling.

Curated by Abdulla Khalid Al Shamsi, the inaugural show, titled Medad – Edition 1, brings together four powerful voices in the UAE art scene, each using a different medium to reimagine tradition in the now.

Medad, meaning ink in Arabic, is a statement. It’s about leaving a mark through creativity, cultural continuity, and bold reinterpretation.

Set within the architecture-rich walls of ME by Meliá Dubai, Medad – Edition 1 is as much an experience as it is an exhibit. From fine art to craft, film to threadwork, the show invites guests to see, feel, and reflect.

Featured Artists:

Emirati art by me artist

Maitha Abdullah Al Remeithi

Photographer, filmmaker, and director. Maitha captures fleeting rituals and everyday poetry in stills that speak volumes. Her lens is deeply local but universally emotional.

Faris Al Hammadi

Painter, educator, pigment whisperer. With lush oil portraits and natural textures, Faris blends classical technique with raw expression; equal parts memory and mastery.

Dana Hisham Aljneibi

Embroidery artist from Sharjah. Dana’s threadwork transforms geometry and tradition into finely stitched visual stories; tactile, contemporary, and loaded with meaning.

Elham Khairalla

Weaver, researcher, co-founder of Sjadna. Her pieces bring craft into conversation, exploring womanhood, sustainability, and legacy through warp, weft, and wonder.

This exhibition marks the start of ME Dubai’s deeper commitment to regional cultural expression.

Blending hospitality with heritage, the hotel offers not just a stay, but a story — and a stage for emerging and established voices from the UAE and beyond.

Whether you’re checking in for the art, the architecture, or just the atmosphere, Medad – Edition 1 makes ME by Meliá a cultural destination in its own right.
