Pfizer-BioNtech jab available for children as young as five in the UAE

Emergency use was granted in November 2021.

The Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine is now available for children aged between five and 11 across the UAE it has been announced.

According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), children will be administered two doses at an interval of 21 days.

The announcement was made by the health sector’s official spokesperson, Dr. Farida Al Hosani, at the Government’s latest media briefing on COVID-19.

 

 

She also said that the Pfizer jab was being offered to the previously approved Sinopharm vaccine for children aged between three and 12.

The MoHAP approved the emergency use of Pfizer vaccine for kids in the aforementioned age range in November 2021 after results from clinical studies showed that the jab was considered “safe” and children produced a “strong” immune response.
