KHDA inspection results highlight Dubai’s best private schools for academic excellence, inclusion, and wellbeing

Across the world, the spotlight is on how strong wellbeing, positive mental health, and inclusive education help students succeed.

In Dubai and across the UAE, these values are redefining what makes a great school, where academic achievement and lifelong resilience go hand in hand.

Excellence in Dubai’s schools goes far beyond exam results — it’s about children who feel happy, supported, and ready to thrive.

For parents exploring school options, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) offers valuable insights through its annual inspection results.

With inspections paused for 2025–26, the focus shifts to the most recent cycle (2023–24), highlighting the schools where students flourish academically, emotionally, and socially — and where wellbeing and inclusion sit firmly at the heart of Dubai’s education story.

KHDA inspection highlights at a glance (2023–24)

In the 2023–24 academic year, nearly all private schools in Dubai that had completed two years of operation were inspected by the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau (DSIB).

Ten schools received their first inspection — a milestone in the city’s ever-growing education landscape.

Why wellbeing and inclusion matter

students in class

Children learn best when they feel safe, valued and inspired.

KHDA’s inclusion and wellbeing frameworks make these principles measurable, highlighting how mental health and wellbeing, and access to learning, are woven into school life.

Key KHDA wellbeing findings 2024

  • 76% of private schools in Dubai rated Good or better for supporting students of determination
  • 83% rated Good or better for overall wellbeing provision
  • 75% of schools judged Good or better overall (up from 35% in 2008–09)
  • Outstanding/Very Good schools increased from 20% in 2015–2016 to 34% in 2023–24

Choosing the right school

KHDA ratings are a reliable benchmark, but your child’s happiness and confidence matter most.

‘Outstanding’ doesn’t always mean perfect fit. When choosing a school, consider your child’s learning style, family values, curriculum preference (British/IB/Indian/US), and even commute.

KHDA ratings are an excellent guide, but one of several factors in finding the right school for your child.

A city raising the bar

Dubai’s education landscape continues to thrive with more Outstanding and Very Good schools than ever before.

The steady rise in quality reflects not just policy, but the shared dedication of teachers, school leaders and parents trying to shape a brighter future for every child.
