The station brings real-time data, digital services to public transport

Dubai’s public transport just got a major addition, and this one feels very “future city” in the best way.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the first-ever smart bus station at Mall of the Emirates, turning a regular transport stop into a fully digital, AI-powered hub.

The station has been designed as a small but highly efficient transit space that blends real-time technology, automation, and sustainability.

It connects directly to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station and supports 11 different bus routes, making transfers smoother and more connected than ever.

Inside, everything is built around speed and convenience. Digital screens update passengers with live arrival times, while smart systems monitor bus occupancy, crowd movement, and overall flow.

There’s even a virtual customer service kiosk that can help answer questions without needing staff assistance.

Behind the scenes, AI tools are working constantly to manage crowd levels and improve operational efficiency. That means better timing, fewer delays, and more predictable journeys for daily commuters.

The station itself is compact, around 147 square metres, and can hold about 20 passengers at a time. It also includes a dedicated rest area for drivers, which helps support smoother operations throughout the day.

Sustainability is part of the design too. Solar panels help generate power, and smart sensors track air quality, making the space more environmentally conscious than a standard bus stop.

According to the RTA, this is part of a wider push to modernise Dubai’s transport network and make public travel more comfortable, efficient, and tech-driven.

The station currently serves routes connecting key areas like Al Barsha, JVC, Dubai Science Park, Arabian Ranches, and even leisure destinations such as Dubai Miracle Garden and Global Village.

It’s a small station, but it signals a bigger shift as Dubai’s bus network is slowly becoming as smart as the city it moves through.
