Dubai Metro timings, remote working and all you need to know today

Dubai Weather Update

It’s rainy days again! From remote working and online classes to Dubai Metro timings, here’s all you need to know

Another day, another storm in the UAE. While rains and flooding seems to have become almost a regular occurence, fear not for the authorities have everything well under control.

As per the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, workers from all government entities and private school pupils will work remotely on Tuesday April 16.

But, since there’s been no formal advice from the government for the private sector, many people are still commuting to and from work.

Additionally, schools in and around Dubai including Sharjah, Ajman and RAK have also declared remote working that will probably stay into effect until 17 April given the uncertain weather conditions.

The National Centre of Meteorology has also revealed that Dubai and the surrounding emirates of Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain should be aware of convective clouds.

If you are planning to commute during the rains, the Dubai Metro seems to be the safest option.

To make things a little easier on both the crowds and the trains, the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai (RTA) has announced that it has extended the Dubai Metro operational hours today, Tuesday 16 April, until 3am on Wednesday 17 April.

This has been done to allow the public to get around safely and to relieve the pressure on trains during stormy conditions.

And if you’re driving, Dubai Police have issued several safety tips to follow for all motorists, including no hazards on while driving, maintaining safe distances between vehicles and lane discipline and perhaps the most important one – keep that mobile phone away!

Stay safe.
