The airline is taking its award-winning Premium Economy cabin up another notch
If you thought Premium Economy was already pretty comfortable, Emirates is giving you a few more reasons to upgrade.
The airline has unveiled its next-generation Premium Economy seat, and it’s packed with clever touches designed to make long-haul flying feel a little more like your own private space.
The headline feature? Emirates says it is the world’s first electrically powered Premium Economy seat, complete with a full-height adjustable privacy screen between every seat.
So, whether you want to settle in with a film, get some work done or simply switch off for a few hours, you can create a little bubble of your own.
The new seats are being introduced on newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft, with the Premium Economy cabin arranged in a spacious 2-3-2 configuration and just 28 seats.
One of the biggest upgrades is the new electric privacy divider.
Rather than a small screen that only partially separates you from your neighbour, this one extends to the full height of the seat.
You can raise or lower it using the seat controls and lock it into position, giving you greater control over your personal space.
The seat itself is 20 inches wide, with up to 39 inches of pitch, while the recline moves into a cradle position without encroaching on the passenger behind.
In other words, there’s more room to stretch out, relax and hopefully get some proper shut-eye.
And because the seat is fully electrically powered, you can adjust your position at the touch of a button, with dedicated settings including lounge mode and meal mode.
Emirates has also brought in its acclaimed U-Dream headrest by Safran Seats, with a leather design and adjustable wings that can be positioned to provide extra support for your head and neck.
There’s also a manually deployable leather footrest, because sometimes it’s the little things that make a long flight considerably more comfortable.
For the first time in Premium Economy, Emirates is introducing wireless charging, while every seat also comes with USB-C charging.
There’s even a handy phone holder built into the tray table, meaning your phone can double as a second screen while you’re enjoying your meal or watching something on the seatback entertainment.
Speaking of entertainment, Emirates’ award-winning ice system gets a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen, promising sharp picture quality and speedy navigation.
And there’s another new feature for passengers flying on the A350: enhanced external camera views.
Alongside the existing forward and downward perspectives, passengers will be able to see new left and right exterior views.
Because sometimes the view outside is the best entertainment of all.
Of course, a premium cabin experience isn’t just about the seat.
Emirates Premium Economy continues to offer a menu designed to feel a little closer to Business Class, with gourmet, regionally inspired dishes served on Royal Doulton fine china, complete with linen napkins and Robert Welch stainless-steel cutlery.
There’s also a selection of premium drinks, which is available exclusively to Emirates Premium Economy customers worldwide.
Long-haul passengers will also receive new reusable amenity kits created in partnership with United for Wildlife.
The collectible bags feature endangered wildlife from four different natural habitats and are made using bio-based materials, while skincare products from Aveda are being introduced to Premium Economy for the first time.
Inside, you’ll find the usual flight essentials, including socks, an eye shade, earplugs and a dental kit.
Since launching Premium Economy in 2022, Emirates has steadily expanded the cabin across its fleet, and this latest update takes the experience another step forward.
The new cabin is designed around privacy, comfort and having more control over your journey, from choosing your seating position to charging your phone without a cable and putting up a full-height screen when you want some peace and quiet.
Add in the dining, entertainment and thoughtful extras, and Emirates is making a strong case for Premium Economy being the sweet spot between Economy and Business Class.
And with this latest seat, the airline is clearly not finished trying to Fly Better just yet.
