The UAE government has announced a strict midday break for these workers starting 15 June until 15 September
Summer’s rolling in, and the UAE government has noted this by introducing a midday break for workers.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced a midday break starting 15 June and prohibits any work under direct sunlight and in open-air areas across the UAE between 12.30pm and 3pm.
The strict break will be enforced all through the summer until at least 15 September. However one might expect extensions on the date depending on temperatures.

Violators are in for some hefty fines, with company fines starting from AED 5,000 for each employee found working between these hours. The fines can also extend all the way up to AED 50,000 if many staff members are caught working during the specified time.
MoHRE confirmed that some jobs will be exempt from the ruling, such as those involving water supply or electricity and road works.
MoHRE said on its website that the break is a, “cornerstone of the country’s labour market legislation” and “aims to provide a safe working environment that adheres to best practices and standards of occupational health and safety, protecting workers against injuries that may result from working in high temperatures during the summer months.”
This marks the 20th consecutive year the rule has been put in place.
