A new development linking Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour will open this June

A new bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road with Dubai Harbour is set to make a noticeable difference for drivers in Dubai.

This latest development is expected to cut the journey times from around 12 minutes down to just 3.

The project is now about 90 per cent complete, according to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and is expected to open in phases starting this June 2026.

Once fully operational, it will create a direct link between Sheikh Zayed Road and the Dubai Harbour waterfront area, significantly improving access for motorists coming from both Deira and Jebel Ali.

At the moment, reaching Dubai Harbour can involve slower, more congested routes through surrounding roads and intersections, especially during peak hours.

The new bridge changes that completely by offering a more direct entry and exit point, helping to streamline traffic flow into one of Dubai’s key coastal destinations.

In its first phase, the bridge will open for traffic travelling from Sheikh Zayed Road towards Dubai Harbour.

A second phase is expected shortly after, allowing vehicles to travel in the opposite direction towards key internal roads including Al Naseem Street and the wider Dubai Harbour district.

Once fully open, the bridge will be able to handle up to 6,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, which should further ease pressure on surrounding roads and improve overall movement in the area.

Supporting upgrades at nearby intersections are also part of the wider project, helping traffic move more smoothly between Sheikh Zayed Road and the waterfront.

For everyday drivers, the biggest takeaway is simple: what used to be a slower, sometimes stop-start journey to Dubai Harbour will soon become a quick, direct link. Whether you’re heading to the marina, nearby leisure spots, or just passing through, the new route is expected to make travel in this part of the city far more efficient.

With Dubai Harbour sitting close to popular destinations like Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah, the improved access is likely to make the area even easier to reach for residents and visitors alike.
