The University of Sharjah is heading to COP28 where it will showcase scientific and research expertise, according to Sharjah24.
Under the support and directives of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, several meetings and sessions are being held at the University to organise and coordinate its participation in the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), scheduled at the end of November in the UAE.
Showcasing its scientific and research expertise in various fields related to sustainability, environmental protection, and natural resources conservation, the university will also highlight its sustainability efforts, including the establishment of the Sustainability Office in 2017, said the new site.
The University will present several activities and events in cooperation with the Ministry of Education during the conference, with the spotlight on sustainability programmes and energy transition and climate change initiatives.
Activities will also focus on modelling and simulating climate actions, engaging youth, and students in role-playing scenarios at the Sustainability House – a hub under the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
