With a gentle nod to the desert, a fabulous terrace and an expansive menu, Al Rimal, which aptly translates to ‘the sands’, offers up Emirati fare to a vast array of dishes that span the globe! The stations are lively. One firing up the furns to bake a variety of bread from European loaves to Arabic flatbread, perfect for dipping into a Levantine Mezze. On the Sushi Station, chefs roll fresh Make and concoct Sake Salmon, Ebi Shrimp and more! Mains are plentiful and include healthy servings of Emirati dish, Machboos Laham or in English, Emirati Slow Braised Lamb Shank with Saffron Rice. Or you could try the Prime Beef – charcoal-grilled prime beef medallion served with baby vegetables or steak fries and pepper sauce.  – is also a delight. The dessert offering is overflowing and local and regional dishes, such as the scrumptious date cake, Arabic sweets and the comforting Umm Ali are there for the taking.

A seasonal menu and a chef who likes to experiment can mean only one thing… the perfect combination for a treat to remember. Despite its location in the Federal Youth Authority on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, there is no age limit on who gets to dine at the stylishly cool Fa’e Cafe. The menu tends to be seasonal, which means it regularly changes to provide a great variety of flavours throughout the year. The demand for comfort food has been high, which the menu reflects with its offering of crispy fried dishes. It all seems naughty health-wise and the dishes, of course, are delicious and comforting yet clean rather than greasy, as fried food often can be. Steak is on the menu and is served with homemade Mandolin-style chips, which Khaled learned to cook while at Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen Atlantis, The Palm. Breakfast is brilliantly big and popular and includes a variety of egg dishes – think Eggs Royale with crème fresh and homemade smoke salmon, asparagus and signature spiced hollandaise. The croissant range showcases Khaled’s flare as a chef. From the nine flavours on offer, the Falafel & Cauliflower Croissant stands out with its Middle East vibe and is simply a must-try.

Fa’e Café, 305 Al Meena St, Al Zahiyah. 8am till 11pm, last orders 10.30pm. Call 052 858 3036

The hip vibe, fab menu offering and brilliant staff at The Warehouse, Pearl Rotana Capital Centre in the very heart of Abu Dhabi’s business district all help in getting the weekend started. The Warehouse is best visited with a group of friends, which the Pick & Share menu perfectly reflects. There are lots to choose from and we guarantee you will want it all, but do save space for the mains and desserts and those all-important beverages.
