Scotland’s Rangers FC launch soccer academy in Abu Dhabi

There will be a focus on female football too!

The Scots are coming to Abu Dhabi in the guise of Rangers Football Club, the first time a Scottish club has branched out in the UAE, to launch a Soccer Academy.

The Academy will be based at Al Forsan International Sports Resort, where the two partners signed an MOU yesterday (14 July) to launch the Academy, which will see high quality training and coaching.

Supported directly by Rangers Football Club, sessions will be open to boys and girls, with the academy also looking to promote the female game in the region.

Coaches from Rangers Soccer Academy will be based in Abu Dhabi to deliver the sessions, while there will also be opportunities for young players to come to Scotland to visit Ibrox and Rangers Academy.

This is just the latest step for Rangers as the club’s innovative international strategy continues to expand into the Middle East, with the Light Blues already having partner clubs in Germany, the United States and India, as well as Soccer Academy collaborations with clubs across the globe.

Gary Gibson, Head of Soccer Academies and International Relations, said: “For the first time, Rangers Football Club will expand their global reach into the UAE with the launch of the Rangers Soccer Academy in Abu Dhabi.

“We are extremely proud and excited to be entering into this new region and very much looking forward to having a positive impact on many players, coaches and families over a long period of time.

“Lots of work has gone on in the background to make this project happen and we are delighted to be working with Chris Brown, Managing Director, CBF and the team of coaches who will spearhead the academy.”
